I’ve been reading Orthodoxy by G.K. Chesterton and I came across this brilliant quote. We so often want to dismiss tradition for the sake of the here and now, Chesterton beautifully dismisses the idea:
“Tradition means giving votes to the most obscure of all classes, our ancestors. It is the democracy of the dead. Tradition refuses to submit to the small and arrogant oligarchy of those who merely happen to be walking about.” - G.K. Chesterton

I’m a big fan of well-done art which teaches things of Sacred Scripture. While not in the Bible, the destruction of Jerusalem in 70A.D. by the Romans is tightly linked to the history of the Bible.
The Romans destroyed the buildings which Jesus and his disciples would have walked by, eaten in, etc… The stories of this epic event in history are many, heart wrenching, and a good reminder to not forget history. Read the rest

Chris Harrison, a doctoral student at Carnegie Mellon University, created a few interesting visualizations of the Bible.
